I am new to this group. Here is a little bio.
I have been teaching a few CS concepts (and programming) to elementary kids since changing careers from a computer scientist and software engineer to a teacher in the early 1990s. Favorites: 4 color problem, MST, and different number systems. Ran across the work of Fields et al some time ago independently of what I was doing. Now looking at it in more detail for my doctoral work in education. Just starting a small study of the 4 color map problem and stages of understanding as kids (and expert) adults work it. I'll post the abstract for my study next. I also do a lot of work on CS and programming via my elementary engineering curriculum, which is documented and fully available at http://www.kidsengineer.com/
