RHoK #2 will have Main Stage events on each continent with numerous
global satellites, including Boston (December 5th only)
WHAT WE’RE DOING:
The catastrophic earthquake in Haiti last January gained international
attention and sparked an intense humanitarian effort. During this
time, small groups of programmers, techies, and laptop owners got
together at CrisisCommons hackathons (CrisisCamps) to create
innovative technical solutions for the teams of people and
organizations responding to the disaster on site.
Remaining true to its mission to create dynamic solutions for crisis
response, CrisisCommons is working closely with the creators of Random
Hacks of Kindness, a self-‐defined "community of developers, geeks
and tech-‐savvy do-‐gooders around the world, working to develop
software solutions that respond to the challenges facing humanity
today"
HOW CAN I HELP?
On Saturday, December 5, Boston University’s Engineers Without Borders
and CrisisCommons -‐ CrisisCamp Boston are hosting a RHoK event for
any interested volunteers. Anyone with a laptop and a desire to help
is welcome! RHoK has created a list of specific problems to target
during this year’s event, and interested volunteers will work in
groups to create a solution:
