Chehelem, Peterson, Kutch... Salem is just one of two sites in Oregon where NOAA makes a soaring forecast. The other is Redmond.  The soaring forecast basically reflects the same parameters as the mm5 sounding, Pete

so do people post up here when they go to Peterson?  I'm relatively close as I'm in Salem but I'm new to the area so I'd like someone who is familiar with the site to show me around.  Any good contacts for Peterson on this board?

Glen, Peterson is open till the end of June.

Keita, I live in Albany and fly as often as I can there, which is usually Friday-Monday if conditions permit, but they haven't been recently. Send me your number and I'll give you a call before next time I head out. On light days, the site is really benign with a good LZ. I'd be happy to give you an intro when/if we both end up there. For Peterson, we want SSW to W winds (SW is best) between 3-7 mph. Anything higher and PB is blown out for us. Oh, and bring hiking poles that can fit into your harness.
