Hi Oregon pilots!

We hope to see you this weekend for Star Thistle.

Some recent correspondence with USHPA means we need to make some clarifications from previous posts on the event.  We are not charging anything to attend and hence chosen not to purchase event insurance.  In order to keep our site insurance and liability risk low there are a few changes we had to make and things we need to tell you.

-The pilot breakfast and the Saturday dinner are offered for free.  It would be great if you would like to make a donation but it is ABSOLUTELY VOLUNTERY. Please ignore any previous suggested donations posted.

-Rides up to launch will operate as they normally do during the year.  What you pay for a ride up to launch is between you and the driver.

-There will be NO ALCOHOL SALES at the dinners.  You are certainly welcome to BYOB of beer or wine but we won’t be selling anything at the event.

With that out of the way as of Wednesday evening the weather is looking good Thursday through Saturday.  There is a chance of showers on Sunday but hopefully they will hold off and pilots can get a flight before heading home.

One other thing that will be covered in the pilot’s meeting is that LongSword vineyard cannot host the event this year due to a play that is being put on during the evenings.  Pilots are asked not to land at LongSword after 5:00 PM Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. But prior to that time pilots are welcome to land at LongSword and enjoy the beverage or purchase a bottle of their wine to go with dinner.
