Simon & I are heading to Bald Butte (not the fly in) tomorrow AM if anyone
would like to join. We should be to the powerline parking area between
10:00-11:00. If you see my black Land Rover there just walk on up, I'll be
on 151.925 if you need directions up the trail.
David Le <asians...@gmail.com>: Sep 23 05:01PM -0700

Honing in on Sollie and CLO Saturday. Will recheck WX in the am and repost.
Anybody interested?

I am probably going to head towards Sollie tonight. Camp out in Tillamook. Check AM forecast.
Steve Carpentier <St...@energyunlimitedoregon.com>: Sep 23 06:10PM -0700

I just looked at the MM5 and it looked like it will likely be really cloudy at the coast. I think I'm going to continue on my original plan to check out the baldy butte fly in and try and hit cliffside Sunday on my way back around 2. Hope you all get some air time this weekend!
Eric Miller <ericm...@gmail.com>: Sep 23 06:13PM -0700

Sollie sounds fun and there's a decent lapse. I'm not seeing any clouds
(besides cummies) but Baldy Butte - Cliffside is sure to be great! But I
can't do that...

LZ at what time? I think early is good personally... somewhere around
11am...

NOAA -

Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 67. East
wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

MM5 -

Yeah, sorry about the bad call. Trying to eat spicy Thai food while MM5ing. Was looking at today. See you at the coast.

Eight lucky hang pilots showed up to fly Rampart yesterday. It was a one of those best cloud surfing Rampart day, even better than two weeks ago.  The edge of the clouds produced extra lifts that allowed us to get higher and higher. We all stayed up easily to our heart's content. The launch condition was friendly with cycles that generally came straight up between 5 to 13mph. Manageable without wire assistance. The cloud in a ceiling was around 7K plus ft ASL (3K above launch level)  with really smooth conditions all day. Temperature at the highest altitude was 39 Fahrenheit degree and we all came well prepared.  Everyone climbed up easily to the cloudbase enjoying the beautiful Rampart scenery for hours. I flew from 1-5pm(4hrs). Landing condition was a bit switchy between North and West.  It was blowing from the west direction (we all perfer north or NNW) when I landed at 5:00pm and everyone landed fine. To end the epic day, five of us enjoyed a great dinner at North Bend Bar and Grill to celebrate. Here's the video and photos from yesterday.

Wanted to give a report with a longish video earlier, took two hours just to
get this short figured out. New editor. When I get better, I'll post more.

Thanks everyone for a great experience.
