Had a beautiful soaring flight at Chehalem this afternoon. The weather was sunny and warm to me anyways, and aside from myself being the only HG, 5 other PGs (Dave B, Mark S, Julian A and ? ) showed up and shared the sky. The wind condition was pretty light during my launch at 12:45 pm- after the PGs all punched off. They were soaring above launch and a few went to the LZ. The ridge lifts were narrow, so I had to scratch really close to the tree tops, which was below launch level. I'd almost given up and prepared to head towards the bail out LZ. Luckily, within 5-10 minutes later I was able to climbed above launch and my flight lasted nearly 1.5 hrs. It was easy to maintain between 200-300 ft above launch. My maximum altitude was 350ft above launch. I landed at Johnson's farm LZ at 2:30pm in almost zero wind and went back to launch around 3:30 pm to collect my things. The winds at this hour became much stronger (approx 15-20mph) with a bit of snow flurry. I'll upload video tonight. Hope others had great flights at Peterson as well. Thanks Dave B for retrieve.
