Hi CoreOS,

We are starting to migrate some applications from bare EC2 instances to Kubernetes with flannel for networking.

Since we need legacy applications in bare EC2 instances to talk to Pods in Kubernetes, would it be possible to also run flannel on the EC2 instances where legacy applications resides so they can talk to Pods via Kubernetes Pod/Service IPs?

Also, would similar strategy work for EC2 instances in VPC to link between applications in bare metal EC2, bare metal EC2 in VPC, and Pods in Kubernetes?

Thank you,

That is much of the purpose of flannel, in fact.  Yes, it can run in non-VPC Amazon, as well as VPC Amazon.  As long as the host nodes are, themselves, addressable to each other, you can overlay flannel among them.
