Hi all,

The Container Linux SDK has always supported building two types of images: a production image and a developer image containing additional development and debugging tools. The developer image differs from the production image in ways that produce longstanding bugs and has been unmaintained for a long time. Therefore, we will be removing the developer image from the SDK with the release of Container Linux 1828.0.0.

The developer container [1], used for building out-of-tree kernel modules and other binaries for a specific Container Linux release, will be largely unaffected. The main change will be the removal of the `gmerge` server.

If you have questions, concerns, or rely heavily on the developer image or gmerge tooling, please let us know.

- Andrew
