hi All,

Finally, getting this self-driving scale model car workshop underway.

We'll be meeting every 3rd Wednesday of the month around 7 pm.  It'll primarily be a build session with some presentation (related to the build and the technology involved).  The aim is to get ready for the first track day on Sunday, 22nd October 2017.

Please register via Meet-up ... https://www.meetup.com/Autonomous-Vehicles

Will organize a bulk purchase during the session tomorrow evening.

Thanks to Mark Wolfe, Tom Jacobs and Andrew FIsher who have done a lot of heavy lifting over the last few months on getting hardware, software and documentation ready.

Rough agenda ...

This first build workshop will introduce people to the hardware (stock car) and software stack.  With the aim to prepare for the first track-day on 22nd October 2017.  We'll also be organizing a bulk purchase for those who'd like to build using the stock car hardware (approximately AUD$200 to $250).

There is a stock car Bill of Materials (thanks Mark Wolfe) ... and you end up with something like these.

This meeting is intended for people who are keen to build ... this ain't no spectator sport !

There will be an overview of ...

• Hardware choices: 1/16 scale model car chassis and BeagleBone Blue SBC
• Control software: ArduRover and DroneKit (Note: some members have made different choices)
• Video capture, network transport and analysis using GStreamer
• Machine Learning

Followed by some informal discussion, demonstrations and planning for the track day (assistance welcome).

Whilst there is no charge for this first meeting ... if you aren't a CCHS member, then a modest donation on the night would be greatly appreciated ... to help support the HackerSpace.
