I'm looking at offering a beginners 'design to 3d print' course through
the hacker space.
The course would be free, but you will need to be a member or pay the
drop in fee.
No prior experience any any of the presented topics is required.
The intent is to run a course over 6 weeks that takes you from design
concepts to printing a 3d model.
The course would be done in a semi-formal discussion style with a strong
emphasis on participation and hands on work.
Broadly
Week 1) over view of the design to print process with a high level
discussion of the tool chain.
Week 2) introduction to CAD using
onshape.com (its free and online so
you can take your work home with you).
Week 3) Constraints, constraints and more constraints - a deeper
understanding of CAD sketches, constraints and parametric modelling.
Week 4) build a model - have a go at building a modelling in CAD with
the aim to printing (come with an idea of something you want to print).
Week 5) continue building your model with ongoing discussions and
collaboration
Week 6) Gcodes, Slicing and printing.
I don't claim to be an expert in any of the material but I've a
reasonable amount of experience (I built my own 3d printer 4 or 5 years
ago) and I'm self taught in CAD.
So I'm looking to gauge if there is enough interest in the above program.
I would be looking at running it in the new year. Times yet to be decided.
If anyone has experience and would like to contribute to above program I
would love to hear from you.
I'm open to adjustments in the course outline.
Drop an email to the list if you're interested.
Regards,
Brett
