Dear Computational Sociologists and friends-

I am writing to invite you to attend the Computational Social Science Summit this May 15-17, 2015 at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

If you are already doing computational sociology OR ethnographic work around data science and computational work, please submit a paper or panel. Here's a link to the CFP

Submission requirements are low (title, abstract, keywords) and due Wednesday, March 25th.

If you would describe yourself as a dabbler in computational methods or otherwise  uninterested in submitting papers or panels, please consider attending.
We have two events designed to enhance the event for presenter and non-presenters alike:
 - a datathon (like a hackathon but using data to produce research findings rather than coding skills to produce apps) using City of Chicago data and,
 - a full day of how-to workshops on everything from using the command line/Unix to specific coding environments like R, python and (possibly) Julia

Both of the datathon and training workshops take place on Friday. The more traditional conference kicks off on Saturday morning.

All meals except dinner Sunday are included in the student registration fee of $25. Some travel scholarships for attendees who demonstrate need are available.

Please feel free to forward this or ping me with questions (I'm one of the co-organizers).

Yours,

Laura Norén
