The problem occurs when I move the cursor up or down in a file while
not located at column 1. The cursor immediatly jumps to the start of
the line moved to and then displays the characters in strange locations
on the line when the cursor is moved along it.
I have cheked that the TERM variable is set to vt100 (which is what the
telnet client on my PC is emulating) and am unsure where to look next.
The machine is a Sparc Ultra running Solaris 2.5. I have tried several
telnet clients from my Windows 95 box and all suffer exactly the same.
Any advice?

I've had similar problems and this fixed it.
