I'm hoping that someone can help me locate a package that I've
previously looked at using "texdoc foo". I've looked at the complete
history of bash back as far as its history goes, which is 2014-12-09.

The package allows you to put what I am calling "authors comments" in a
lower-case and different font within the main body of the text. I've
searched texdoc-live for all packages with "notes" in its name or title
but I can't find it.

Can somebody please put me out of my misery and show me or tell me what
the package is please?

Thanks
Sharon.

How about something like "todonotes" which allows the author to comment
throughout the doc?

No, sorry, that's not it. The package that I'm looking for allowed you
to keep your "authors comments" in the main body of the text, even after
the document was finalised, as they weren't comments to your co-author
but to your reader.

Do you have critical editions in mind? The relevant package is eledmac.

It's NOT what you're looking for but quite nice and can be used for the
same purpose: changes by Ekkart Kleinod.

Thanks for this Vaggelis, but 'eledmac' is now deprecated, but is now
replaced with "reledmac", but its still not what I'm looking for, but
thanks.

Thanks Axel, you're right its not quite what I want, but its approaching
it. But I can't see how by using the "changes" package I can have my
comments in a different font and size, which would be ideal. Any ideas

Can you remember the command or environment that the package used to do
this?

Sorry Peter, no. I saw that it was updated when I did a "texupdate"
[alias texupdate='env "PATH=$PATH" tlmgr update -all'] and that I then
loaded it with "texdoc foo" and that it had "authors comments" in a
smaller case and in a totally different font from the default. I
thought, that that was interesting and useful, and moved onto something
else. Now I have a need of it but I can't remember anything else than
I've already described here. Sorry!

Some suggestions:

The ed package: https://www.ctan.org/pkg/ed

List of packages related to ed: https://www.ctan.org/recommendations/ed

List of packages related to changes: https://www.ctan.org/recommendations/changes

Packages related to editor's marks/notes: https://www.ctan.org/topic/editorial

Maybe seeing one of those names will ring a bell.

Cheers,

Is the phrase "author's comments" one of your own making, or did it come
from the documentation?

Have you looked through recent issues of the Treasure Chest of packages
at https://www.tug.org/TUGboat/Chest/

Yes, it is my own description of part of what I'm looking for.

No, I didn't know that this resource was available, but I'm going to
have a good look at them.

Thanks Peter.

Thanks for this Mike.

I tried 'ed' in my mwe and it worked well, but when I tried it with my
current project, it broke my first itemized list, and would not process
any other list as they were all broken. Sorry, it just didn't work out.

But your other CTAN links are very useful and I'm having a good look at
them at the moment.
