Umm, just off the top of my head...
1) How is the offensive AI
2) Does 'beefing up' cities mean 3 paladins or 9 spearmen (for instance)
3) Bugs, bugs, bugs. ???

Geez, I'm sure I have more but being forced to verbalize them my mind has
gone blank. Sorry to pester you about this, but you've been something of
a tease about the patch, so answers would be nice.

Thanks for the info Alan ... I'm hoping the cautious garrisoning of cities
doesn't mean there's no aggressive enemy stacks out there; I would like
to see more to the new AI than pure garrison-boosting (which would make
the game not that different to now, as you could still attack the enemy
capitol surgically).

Now, tell me, what date is Thanksgiving? I hope not July 4th! :)

Welll...is there a large text file with all fixes?
For example can you resurrect heroes if you have 5 or more?
Does armsmaster (ummm the one that gives exp every turn?) work?
Does elemental armor give +10 armor now or 0 still?
Does regeneration work for non-trolls/non-hydras?
etc.

btw We realy appreciate the update.

And ya...when is US thanksgiving? Up here in Canada we had it about
a month ago...guess you don't mean Canadian thanksgiving.
Do americans think the whole world celebrates thanksgiving with them? :-)

Doesn't this spell just bring armor up to the level of 10
(if not there already?) I don't remember though...

Hey, why not? :) (Where else but here would someone sing a song

Howdy Mr. Alan,

Thanks for taking time keeping people informed on the net. Appreciate it just
as much as your insightful articles and guides.

Could you please assist in answering the following questions concerning MOM
1.1:

1. Does "Wind Mastery" work? Heroes with "Wind Walking" capability are given
flying "wing-flapping" movement icon instead of the wind-walking
"cloud-surfing" icon and still move at "normal" speed.

2. When one starts with 11 spells in one field, can one locate spell-books of
other field in the game and learn the spells pertaining to that field? I recall
reading some posts of people's securing "spell-books" after battles
particularly nasty one like those occuring in Sorcery nodes. These days I
always play starting with 11 spell-books. I was able to obtain at least 4 to 5
retorts per game, even in nodes located in Arcanus. But no spell book has ever
been recovered. In addition, at the end of learning all spells in the field,
"Spell of Mastery" was never availabe for researching. I thought that should be
the way SimTex envisions all games end. :-)

On "Offensive AI",
Even in 1.1 in the later stage of the game, the CP's always have a stack of
nine guarding their capitals. But they do have a tendency to attack with one or
two units against a "killer stack" while stacks of nine just idle by with a
"killer stack" posing by their capitals ready to attack next turn. On the other
hand, no one can really blame those stacks since it is futile any way for them
to attack the "killer stack", particularly in the "Strategic Combat Only" mode
which favors extremely "killer stacks".

But in the early game, the AI in 1.1 does pose a credible challenge when
provoked, sending constant marauders to revenge. For people who complain about
a weak AI, they probably have never started the game in a continent with at
least three other CP's with a non-Lizardman race, and attacking every one of
the CP's units on sight, provided the human player starts with 11 spellbooks
and no retorts.

I digress. :-) Thanks again.

Best regards,

Since you're gathering all the bugs I've got one that seems to plague
me quite often. Whenever I use the Change Terrain spell in Myrror
or the Transmute spell the game either hangs or crasher OR the graphics
get really screved up. These vertical lines appear all over the screen.

Now I may not be a computer expert - but that dosn't seem normal ! :)

I tried the game on a ADM 386 and an Intel 486DX2 and got the exact same
but. One with dos 6.2 and the other with dos 5.0. Different config's
were used each time. Unless I missed something it is probably safe to
assume it's not a platform thing. Note that these bugs do not occur
EVERY time. Mabe 1 in 4.

AHHH i c, non-heros. well thanks. I only really need heros to get exp.
non-heroes can get max pretty fast.

well its possible but thats not what it claims to do.
here is a quote:
"Dramatically increases the units defenses (shields) and resistance to
magic (crosses) by 10 each."

Seems like it clearly does not work. I have only tested it on heroes
items I have not tested the actual spell.

Thanks for replies Alan. I was considering that it only applied against
some and therfore was not shown, but unfortunately it does not state that
in the spell description in the rule book. What kind does it apply against?
Since it is not cumulative with resist elements am I to assume it applies
only to the same thing as resist elements?

ELEMENTAL ARMOR
NATURE. CREATURE ENCHANTMENT.
DRAMATICALLY IMPROVES A TARGET UNIT'S DEFENSE AND RESISTANCE TO MAGIC,
BY 10 EACH. THE DEFENSE AND RESISTANCVE BONUSES PROVIDED BY ELEMENTAL
ARMOR DO NOT EXERT CUMULATIVE EFFECTS WITH RESIST ELEMENTS.

no mention of limited use.

Um... I didn't answer the question because I was afraid I'ld get it wrong!
It is the 24th or 25th, but think it is the 24th. (watch me be wrong!)
I just go home (or to the in-laws in this case) over the entire 4 day
weekend and let someone else worry about when to serve a big dinner....

You still haven't answered the question as to when American Thanksgiving

most of the calenders here in Canada are made by US companies, and those
that aren't still have American holidays on them to take advantage of the

Yes, you *did* get it right. Thursday, November 24 is Thanksgiving.
Well, at least *this* year. ;-)

Bryce,

The offensive AI is definately better. I left my capital garrisoned
with 4 veteran units (2 longbowmen, 2 halbadier). The computer player
charged it with two full stacks, each with a hero. Fortunately, the CP had
shot its bolt with magic in the first battle, where I had a strong
counter-magic spell up. It made all the difference. At then end of the
second battle, I had two halbadier figures standing -- and that's it.
It was a gutsy attack, too -- very ruthless and deliberate. Something I
would have tried (hehehe).
As for beefing up its city defenses, it starts with 5-8 units of
whatever it can build, but is much better at spreading its better units
around to defend its cities. Often, heroes and big, summoned critters can
be found garrisoning enemy cities after the early stages of the game have
ended.
Bugs? I'm reporting those to SimTex. No need to post them here, since
I'm hopeful they'll be fixed.
