This is just a good natured reminder that the quarterly VMS
update should be about due from VSI. :-)

Simon.

I submitted it Friday, should be up on the website within in a couple days. Added the Alpha release and broke H1 2017 into Q1 and Q2 now that we have more detailed schedules. I'm a little worried that we have not fully fleshed out the impact of Alpha but that will iron itself out before the next update.

Claire, what do you mean "impact on Alpha"?

Once we get beyond the holidays I think the Alpha release will have an impact on the schedules of some other work. Alpha is our number one near-term priority right now and some things have already been adjusted accordingly. Planning things at this time of year is always difficult. No matter how precise you try to get I am always skeptical of accomplishing much between Thanksgiving and New Year's.

Impact _of_ Alpha, not impact _on_ Alpha. :-)

IOW, I think it's the additional work required to support Alpha and
the impact on the schedules that work may have which Clair is talking
about.

I was thinking the same thing but didn't want to post anything as I figured they are busy enough and will post when given a chance

Wow, 2016 nearly gone, 2017 within a stones throw, before we know it 2018 will be upon us and maybe some of us will get a shot at the early adopters VMS-x86-64 port

I think in 2017 the two items that my organisation may be interested in would be:

VMS Advanced File System
• Improved Performance over ODS-2/5

H1 2017 - Independent Kits
• JAVA 1.8

Clair,
Simon already noted that I'd missed your point. You are absolutely right that December at best has just 10 working days..
Getting work planned, especially overtime is like pullong teeth.
Good luck!
