By typing their name into a a terminal and actually using debian rather
than windows.
X-HTTP-UserAgent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows
98),gzip(gfe),gzip(gfe)
Which packages?
Chris
Surely just use "apt-get install <package>" from the command line and
that's it..
For a GUI ftp client, surely firefox?
Of course not. That's an ftp *server* you've installed, not an ftp client.

I believe filerunner might meet your needs. Also, most web browsers can
be used as basic ftp clients. Simply enter an ftp:// URL.

I can't find a package called "vsftp". Perhaps you meant "vsftpd",
which is a server, not a client.

There are a number of graphical FTP clients available. If you're just
needing to download, use any web browser. If you're wanting more than
that, try either/both of these packages: gftp-gtk (Gnome) or kftpgrabber
(KDE).

Surely "lftp" in an xterm. ;->

Or try "rehash" in bash, or learn about updatedb.
Not everyone posting via Windows is a Windows user. Some may only
have Windows at $DAYJOB.
