jdb throws exception while initializing

Hi,

I am trying to invoke jdb and I get the following exeception.

Initializing jdb...
Internal exception: java.io.IOException: /usr/local/java/bin/java_g:
not found
at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java)
at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java)
at sun.tools.debug.RemoteAgent.<init>(RemoteAgent.java:139)
at sun.tools.debug.RemoteDebugger.<init>(RemoteDebugger.java:70)

at sun.tools.ttydebug.TTY.<init>(TTY.java:1447)
at sun.tools.ttydebug.TTY.main(TTY.java:1615)

I have installed jdk 1.1.6 in my home directory ~/java/jdk1.1.6.
java_g is in ~/java/jdk1.1.6/bin.

I have never been able to use jdb from the command line.
