Gimp on Ubuntu 8.10
Is there a filter or a plugin or anything else to open or import or
translate CorelDraw CDR files and open them in GIMP ?
Thanks
You could try Uniconvertor

<q> UniConvertor is a multiplatform universal vector graphics translator.
It uses sK1 engine to convert one format to another<q>
The .deb package that is on the site is for Ubuntu 7-ish so perhaps there
is a package in the ubuntu repository. Maybe the ubuntu7 package will
work, its not a complicated app and does not have much in the way of
dependencies. I have it on a Mepis7 installation, its a command-line,
used it to convert some old CDR images to AI.

Just a quick trial and a Coreldraw10 .cdr converted to a .svg file which
gimp (2.4.7) opened no problem. The same file converted to .wmf, there
was a noticeable aliasing.
