Since years I am using Paint shop Pro 6.00. Recently I installed GIMP 2.2,
but the interfaces of the 2 are so different, I can hardly find me way
trough the GIMP. There is a abundance of manuals and learning books. Could
anyone advise me which one is appropriate for moving from PSP to GIMP. I am
reasonably fit in picture handling, my problem is just, in GIMP everything
is different.

Thank you for advice,

HWtn

PS The system is still XP for the time beeing.

That is what I do, not so much switching back, but still using it. But I
thought to go with my time after all

I changed from PSP to Gimp many years ago (abandoned widoze shortly
afterwards) The main difference I found was in the right click menu
access and the separate windows. Only get used to doing basic stuff
again in the new environment by working through some tutorials.

http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/

Then the online book Grocking the Gimp is a useful reference.

http://gimp-savvy.com/BOOK/

I found the change well worth the effort put in.
