Hi,

I found a previous post in this group with great information regarding
the Gammalink fax boards. They are now owned by intel and while intel
is providing the older version of software free of charge, they appear
to be offering current development software at a price.

The provided documentation refers to an Error Code Manual which does
not appear to be included with the downloaded files.

I have written a program that sends faxes in a broadcast fashion via
gdk. When the fax terminates I receive a status code which I write into
my database to track the performance of the application. I know that
some of the numbers will be busy, and I know some of the data is out of
date so the fax numbers will be invalid or No Answer. However, the gdk
api is quite sophisticated and returns a large range of status codes
depending on exactly how the fax call failed (256 is success). I found
explanations for some of these codes in a previous post to this group.

These are the codes I am looking to explain:
Code Number of calls with this status Description
3230 1 ?
3231 3 ?
3268 4 ?
3912 80 ?
3931 48 Busy tone
detected. Busytone exceeds 300ms.
3938 81 Answered
before one full ring.
I havent got all of my notes with me now but I believe that I tested
code 3912 to mean "No Answer" or "Rung out". eg Not a fax number.
I am not sure but 3931 appears to be "Busy - Normal" as opposed to
"Busy - fault" where the Busytone is less than 300ms. If the number is
"Busy" I think the program should allow a specified number of redials
to see if the dialogic card can get through.
3938 I am not a fax guru but I am guessing that fax machines are
supposed to wait at least one full ring before answering. 3938 would
then indicate that you are not calling a fax and that the fax number on
record is out of date. In that case, no redial should be scheduled
because you may have called a voice number. The person would have
picked up and received a blast of fax tones in their ear. Not good
customer relations to do that again!

Thanks heaps,

coolbreeze

I found the Error Code and Status Message pdf on the intel website via
google, finally!

Thanks for all of the replies.

Google the name of the manual and an error code and you will get a hit.
