Shutting down MySQL, ERROR!

when performing a normal shutdown (/etc/init.d/mysql stop) on 1 node of a 3 node cluster i'm receiving the following output:

has anyone experience this type of behavior? i've been able to stop/start & restart single nodes without an issue up until today. no configuration changes have been made...
