100x performance hit with galera vs standalone

I might have posted again this questio, but i cannot see it in the list, so sorry if i double post. 

I am experiencing a big perf hit when using galera.

The ping RTT is about 200 usec (so super small) however the latency measured by sysbench is 7 msec for transactions. 

It seems that if i increase also the number of clients the amount of tx does not change. It looks like the transactions are serialized for some reason?
