From Natalia Martinez:

"Minorities, especially Latinos, use mobile and digital technology more than other demographic groups in the nation. Yet, just 6% of U.S. tech workers are African American and 7% are Latino.

As you can imagine, this gap has a huge financial impact on the Latino and black communities. Annually, tech jobs pay an average of $77,000, far more than what the average Latino makes a year, which is $37,000. This is why Voto Latino is launching the VL Innovators Challenge.

Together with the MacArthur Foundation and partners such as Google, Voto Latino launched the VL Innovators Challenge, a $500,000 tech competition for Millennials between the ages of 18 and 34. Check out this 1-minute YouTube video about the competition: http://goo.gl/THXQBV.

The Challenge is designed to cultivate a pool of diverse tech talent -- something the tech industry desperately needs -- and find innovative solutions to problems in diverse communities. To enter the Challenge, someone must:

be a Millennial between the ages of 18 and 34, regardless of race or ethnic background

propose a tech idea that will address any social issue in diverse communities as long as one of those communities is the Latino community

The application is here: http://goo.gl/THXQBV"
