Inventables just announced the successor to the Shapeoko 2.  It will be at CNC Build Club on Thursday if you want to see it.

One moth to the day after I ordered my Shapeoko 2 kit. Man, sometimes I hate technology. ;)

It doesn't look to different than the shapeoko 2 but should lay the way for you to mod your shapeoko 2 in its image :)

I know how you feel though i am about 2 months into mine and it made me sad at first but im happy its still growing.

Yeah, I saw that and emailed Inventables to figure out exactly what's included in that kit. The main thing that mildly irks me is that I had already picked a number of upgrades that now appear to be included in the base price, and I've been 3D printing limit switch mounts and adding those to my machine, so I could have skipped all that. Oh well, it's been a fun learning experience and with 20 years experience in the IT industry I know that such is the way of technology. I actually just ordered a Nema-23 belt drive upgrade for my Z-axis from shapeoko.com today, so I'm mostly interested in the new X carriage of the X-Carve, which seems like it would simplify the machine and add some stability, and the change in mounting location of the drag chain. Oh, and the new power method. Man, more money to be spent. :D

Of course, the most important question is whether the upgrade kit from Inventables will turn my entire machine black, because that alone makes it worth it.

When things are painted black i am fairly sure they run a minimum of 50% faster and automatically get a boost to stealth......

This is my reply from Inventables regarding the Shapeoko 2 to X-Carve upgrade kit contents:

> Thanks for your email. Some of the fine details are still being worked out, specifically some of the hardware that's going to be included. The components that are finalized right now are
> the end plates, gantry side plates, x-carriage extrusion, new belt clips, and all z-axis components including the motor plate, bearing, timing belt, and pulley.

So as of right now the only duplicate contents for upgrades that I've purchased would be the z-axis components since I've upgraded to an acme rod with the nema 23 stepper motor and belt drive.
