Hi all,

We recently got our Thermwood CNC (3 axis, 4'x8' moving table) operational after getting it back in the shop and we are looking for ways to get it busy. I run a start-up non-profit called the Chicago Composite Initiative (www.ChicagoCI.org) where our main goal is to create jobs in the Chicago area. CCI operates out of a partner business called CST Signs and Manufacturing at 2846 W. 48th Place in Chicago. We are working with CST to establish a framework for businesses so we can identify their capabilities/skill demands of their employees and then train/mentor/apprentice workers who can then work in fields like advanced manufacturing.

So my request is if there are any projects that want to get cut, I can arrange for some free or close-to-free cutting on our CNC. We already have a good amount of foam leftover from a previous project for a car that was at last year's SEMA auto show. Perfect stuff for making plugs and molds that can be vacuum bagged for the production of composite parts. We work heavily with carbon fiber and are looking for projects that lean toward things like drones, sports equipment, automotive, and other popular industries that produce a lot overseas. We are working to make Chicago a hub for composites and advanced manufacturing and could use your help.

So, let me know if you have any ideas or if you have any larger projects that could be cut on our CNC. A CAD file or something like that is what we need to get going. You would be helping the non-profit build the necessary framework and you could get your project cut easily and inexpensively.

Thanks all.
