New Member Intro (best choice for 3d printer build?)

Hello!
     Just joined PS1 and attended my first CNC meeting tonight.  I've done some dabbling in fiberglass, electronics and a few other areas.
 
     I'd like to build my own 3d printer, and hope to print out some parts and do some of it at PS1.  I had initially considered a Prusa Mendel i3 (on Reprap), but decided against it when I heard stability was an issue.  If anyone has done a build of their own, I would certainly like to hear recommendations.  The Lulzbot 4(?) seemed very dependable when we used it for a basic print tonight.  I'm willing to spend a little more to build a dependable, working printer.

The Lulzbots are not really kits.  They are almost ready to go when you get them. 

 

I have built about 8 printers.  They have all been of my own design.  I think the Deltas are fun and easy to build.  The Printrbot printers are pretty good kits.
