New to PS1, wanting to learn how to use CNC router

I'm new to PS1 and want to get started with CNC. Is best way to do this to show up at a thursday meeting? Thanks all,

It sounds like you want to use the ShopBot. The path to its use is shown on the Wiki Page for the device. It is a 2 class training. TL:DR one of the software the other on the tool itself. The Build Club is a great way to meet people to collaborate. The greatest part of PS1 is working with fellow makers.

CNC Build Club is open to people everywhere, not just PS1 members ... and, as such, it is probably not the best place to ask about PS1-specific authorization ... however yeah we have a bunch of overlap.

On the olde Pumping Station: One private google group, this was recently posted, a July 2 authorization session

In case anyone missed it on Meetup and the event calendar, I'll be holding the ShopBot Authorization part 1 class this Saturday, July 2 at 1PM.

Attending this class is the first of two sessions required for authorization on the ShopBot. The second, hands-on, session will occur within a week of the first class.

Hey Cassie ... just thinking about this, if you really wanted to get started fast-track with CNC, you can start using the Carvey without authorization, and you can hook up with some of the CNC aficionados at the space and get a Makerspace license of VCarve for your PC.

Otherwise, I'd ask you what about CNC you want to start using ... are you including 3D printers and the laser cutter in that definition, too? If you want to get authorized on the laser, I'm trying to schedule a session for that right now, putting together a group that will figure out a time and day when I'll lead the auth session.

If that's one of the things you're interested in, I'll forward the link to the Doodle that I'm using to set up the session.

Oh one last thing ... member meetings and open house aren't on Thursday they're on Tuesday, for PS1 ... for CNC Build Club, the meetings are monthly now, not weekly, and though they are on a Thursday usually, they aren't always at PS1!
