My question is this: where do you buy your CNC endmills/bits/cutters?

Ebay, Amazon, local vendor, other online retailers?

I'm a big fan of made in the USA...everything, so if you have any thoughts/opinions on the following manufactures' tools I'd certainly be interested in hearing them as well.

Lakeshore Carbide - Lake View, New York
Kodiak Cutting Tools - Syracuse, New York
Niagra Cutter - Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania
Atlas Cutting Tools - Waterbury, Conneticut
Morse Cutting Tools - Madison Heights, Michigan
Maritool -  Wood Dale, Illinois (Carbide tools made in USA)
Monster Tool Company - Vista, California
DuraMill - Malta, New York
Advanced Tool Incorporated - Marcy, New York
IMCO Carbide Tool Incorporated - Perrysburg, Ohio
SGS Tool Company - Cleveland, Ohio
American Carbide - Bethel, Vermont

(feel free to add to this Made-in-the-USA list if you know of other good companies)

Cheers,

Danny

I really like the Niagra cutters i bought on ebay. I was also buying USA made endmills from Enco before the merger. I have also done ok with that 2 and 4 flute multi-set from harbor freight. The cutters above I use in my mills. I also like O-flute endmills from Onsurd (63-620) for aluminum on my router for the guys without a mill.

Thanks for the info everybody!

After comparing prices at McMaster, Ebay Niagra, MSC, Maritool (in Wood Dale, IL), Kodiak and Lakeshore Carbide (NY), I went with Maritool for this first round.

For each company, I was comparing identical spec endmills, specifically 1/8" and 1/4" uncoated carbide single-ended square and ball-end end mills.

Lakeshore Carbide, Kodiak, and Maritool were all about the same price, with their 1/8D x 1/2LOC 2FL uncoated end mills costing between $5.47 to $6.28.  McMaster, MSC, and Ebay were in the $9 range.

I purchased 1 ea of their 1/4 ball-nose, 1/8 ball nose, 1/4 square end, and 1/8 square end.  Regular LOC on all.

The kicker for me was the zero-cost of shipping by using Maritool, for which I'll just drive out and go pick up at their Will-Call location in Wood Dale.

In the future I'm going to purchase some cutters from Lakeshore or Kodiak, and do some comparisons on the grind that each manufacturer produces, and see if a winner emerges?

There was an interesting article I read on comparing endmill grinds, and I'm curious  to fire up the comparitor or a microscope at PS1 and see if I can record some images to use for comparing the grinds from each company.

Cheers,

Danny
