Dear Clojurians, 

aviia (aviia.com.au) is developing an innovative digital video interviewing platform and are looking to for a Software Engineer, with Clojure experience to grow their team! 

aviia was founded on the firm belief that there is a better, more efficient way to screen, interview and select job applicants. Our innovative on-demand video interviewing application connects job applicants directly with organisations through pre-recorded video questions they respond to via desktop or mobile, that are then rated and assessed through customized analytics. aviia utilizes cutting edge technologies and continuously seeks to develop innovative tools not on the market today.  Based in the A grade ASX building of Sydney CBD, this is a highly rewarding opportunity where you will be given key responsibilities and product ownership for an innovative market offering.   

Our backend services are written in Clojure and Java, and our frontend is written in JaveScript and AngularJS. We use PostgreSQL to manage the state of our system. The entire system runs on Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, VPC, and more).

What we look for in aviia applicants:

·        Familiarity the following:

o   Scripting Languages: Javascript, Python, Ruby, etc.

o   OO Languages: Java, C#, C++, etc.

o   Functional Languages: Clojure, Lisp, Erlang, Scala, etc.

·        Understand Relational Databases and have written some SQL

·        Worked with the Web: HTML, CSS, jQuery, etc.

·        Familiar with Internet Architecture: HTTP, TCP/IP, etc

·        Familiar with professional development practices:

o   Agile SDLC

o   Source Control

o   Estimation

o   Automated Unit Testing

·        Knowledge of web/mobile frameworks or SDKs complementing your language familiarity (i.e. Java/Spring/Android, JavaScript/Angular/Express, Objective-C/iOS, etc.)

·        A project or portfolio of work, ideally hosted live either at a URL or available for live demo with your code hosted on GitHub or another social coding platform

·        Strong problem solving skills

·        Drive and eagerness to learn and improve their Clojure skills.

·        Comfortable in a Unix/Linux environment.

·        Open to new approaches and new ideas

·        Excited to hone your craft

·        1-2 years of professional experience working in web technology

·        BS in Computer Science or Engineering

·        Coursework in Data Structures, Object Oriented Programming. and Databases
