Hi all,

I am interested to know if there is any sort of "grading scale" in a report card format that has come out of the CAIT data for each state?  I know that state-level differences in GHG emissions by sector exists within the database for the US.  However, I am looking for any published work or grey literature that synthesizes all this information into a grade or score for each state, which could then be used as a single variable to compare each state with other variables of interest.  As a social scientist, I am unsure I have the knowledge to accurately grade each state based upon the data...but, I'm hoping someone else does and has made some future work easier for me and my colleagues!

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated!  Or, if you would like to help to develop this please let me know.

Many thanks,

Stacia

Hi Stacia -

Thanks for your post and my apologies for the delayed response. Though we have historically made a number of climate and energy indicators available through our CAIT-US site, WRI has never attempted to combine this into an index or single value/score for each state. ACEEE publishes an annual state efficiency scorecard - see http://aceee.org/sector/state-policy/scorecard - which may be most similar to what you have in mind (though ACEEE's work is more targeted than the data contained in CAIT). CO2Scorecard.org has also done some work in this space, but at a country level. There may be other work as well that I'm not aware of. Happy to discuss further if it would be helpful. You can reach me at tdamassa [at] wri [dot] org.

Best regards,
