Hello,

I am currently testing citus-community edition with cstore. But as far as I know, the documentation only configures one master node.

I read some posts that said to synchronize master metadata, but doesn't explain the steps nor the tools to make it.

Is there any documentation for launching, at least, two master nodes? or is citus-enterprise only?

I have suscesfull launched two workers and two master nodes, but the second master nodes cannot query the data insterted in first because desynchronized metadata.

Kind regards

Hi Ferrero,

Thanks for contacting us. Could you elaborate more on why you are looking to setup a multi master cluster ?

Are you looking at scaling the reads? Are you looking to scale writes? or is it just keeping a backup of master ?

If you are looking at multi master for backup purposes you  could use PostgreSQL’s streaming replication feature to create a hot standby of the master. Then, if the primary master node fails, the standby can be promoted to the primary automatically to serve queries to your cluster. You could also refer the following section on our docs.

Hello Sai

Thanks for the fast response!

I am currently trying to set up a second master to guarantee high availavility if one master goes down. The writes and reads are not a problem, just looking backup.

I have an append distribution for cstore tables.

Before getting started with citus workers, I have tried setting up a simple Master-Slave with cstore, but the problem is that cstore tables don't write to WAL, so the data wasn't replicated. I thought the metadata tables are also cstore-related tables, so I did not check it with the masters.

I will try the solution you posted.

Thank you very much!

Regards
