The art of coining nicknames

It is said a nickname is “usually familiar or humorous but sometimes pointed

or cruel name given to a person or place, as a supposedly appropriate

replacement for or addition to the proper name, or a name similar in origin

and pronunciation from the original name”.

Sometimes it becomes under a calling names category (to call someone by an abusive or insulting name)

The name is based on a trait or a character or looks of a person or for fun.

Are CETains the best at coining nicknames?

Who coined Apnasi?

First I thought all foreign students were called Apnasis. But I was wrong. There were different categories of Apnasis.

The foreign students were the real Apnasis, like Mr.Harvey from Mauritius, Mr.Freddie De Silva, Mr.Alphonso Gomez from Malaysia etc. Mr.Freddie was also called Tunku.

Then came the Apnasis from north india.

Then the friends of Apnasis were also called apnasis who were always in their company.

Then I found out those who were well dressed were also called Apnasis.

Then again those who were fluent in English were also called Apnasis.

The cricket players were also called Apnasis because they always tried to talk in English.

Apart from Apnasis some had individual nick names, some apt, some cruel and some very funny.

Who are they? Where are they now? Why they were called so?

Some happened to be well known.

Some of them were

Kanthari, Pattalam Mary, Benz, Butt, Lady Goliath, Chirikkatha Sundari, Spring

Utter Kuruvila, Pattar, Uthu, Bhakshanam, Nagesh, Bulbu, Mootta, Mottapuram, Kothazham, Eye Push, Karady, Ammu, Defective Intellect.

and

Kanji Pappan, Solid Pappan, Lewit, Gama, Stha Pra Ka.

Who are the other celebrity nickname holders?
