CAs as entry

Hi,

Is it expected that the logs contain (root) CAs as entry, and not
just part of the chain?

It is not particularly expected, and I can't remember offhand if logs will accept a root CA (by which I really mean a recognized trust anchor, which may not actually be a root) as an entry.

Logs will definitely accept intermediates as entries, though.
