Hi,

but all I really want to do is figure out how to make it so that the students for a class make their own tests.
Basically I want the students to make a test, Students will then have their questions be evaluated by having other students take the test,  and by having an expert in the field review the questions.
Language students currently can't fully stress their understanding of a concept with just a poorly formed multiple choice question.
(quizlet vocabulary tests are very easy to pass without understanding )
I want to have students take their mistakes from homework and put it into the form of a question and put the corrected version down next to it, and then see if other students have the same problem.

Students will be evaluated on the correctness of their assessment, and by the scores of other students (it must be difficult enough to make students have errors)

I haven't figured out if I can have multiple users collaborate on making a test.
I don't need this to be in the main course stream.. they(learners) can all have teacher/admin access to a course that doesn't have their grades.

*******
This is where I'm at now:
I have a school canvas account (I'm just a student, but I can make courses, but other students can't join me without administrative headache)
I got a canvas.instructure.com account...   This may be the solution unless I actually do this at my school rather than just experimenting...
and I'm trying to install it on a virtual machine on my powerful laptop, but it is difficult (8gigs of ram dedicated to the virtual machine)

What is your advice?

I'm trying to follow the canvas quick start guide. I've got a virtual machine with ubuntu 16.04 (actually KDENeon)

I did a quick edit to the script to make it always assume ubuntu..

I installed the prerequisites (which were listed below the step to run the script, so I edited the wiki to put those higher)

the bundle install fails
(I somehow got 1.4.6 installed on one attempt)
Then it failed on nokogiri-xmlsec-me-harder
note that ruby 2.4.1 is not available in the ppa listed in the quickstart.

I hope I have helped by updating the documentation..

Just a quick check.
1. please confirm which commit you're using to install ? run this : running git rev-parse HEAD
2. I've been installing quickstart guide using latest commit stable and master and using ruby 2.4.0, there's no problem i got, maybe you should send specific error from your log.
3. nokogiri-xmlsec-me-harder need libxmlsec1, have you installing this ? apt-get install libxmlsec1-dev ?
