Hi there,

I'm trying myself at camunda, which is pretty nice, and there are many things I'm not familiar with.

I haven't found any topic or question in regards to mine.

What I'm trying is JavaScript in a Script Task, as I am not familiar with Groovy and feel more comfortable with JS.

I specifically want to set a variable and its value and then in production log it to the Tomcat console. I've done a similar thing / logging to the Tomcat console with a JavaDelegate in a ServiceTask via the following code:

Now I've set up a ScriptTask as follows:

Questions:

1) is the scriptFormat="javascript" okay? I've only seen Groovy examples for this. Where can I find more JS examples?

2) how can I access the logger in my script? I've seen a snippet in the forum using "logger.info('message')" and "logger.log('message')". After some searching I also found the possibility of using console.log('message')".

Concrete error I'm experiencing:

I'm using the InMemoryH2Test.java unit test setup which comes via the servlet archetype you provide and it looks as follows:

The 2nd test gives an error "SCHWERWIEGEND: Error while closing command context org.camunda.bpm.engine.ScriptEvaluationException: Unable to evaluate script: ReferenceError: "logger" is not defined in <eval> at line number 3"

which I assume is because the script part doesn't know what the logger or logger variable is. Or maybe I cannot use JS like this at all? I dunno :-)
