Over the next few weeks, Calgary Transit will be holding Open Houses and Workshops regarding planning for the future North Central LRT. See info below.
In June, The City of Calgary will begin engaging Calgarians as part of the two-year
North Central LRT route planning study. The study will lead to improved transportation choices to connect Calgarians and their communities and will determine (expected by December 2014):
- A route for NC LRT (Centre Street N., Edmonton Trail, or Nose Creek)
- Station locations and amenities (e.g., bus terminals, park and ride lots, and opportunities for transit-oriented development)
- LRT vehicle type and right-of-way concepts (for example, elevated, in-street, separated right-of-way)
- Possible bus and rapid transit network connections (including the future southeast LRT)
- Pedestrian and cyclist needs (to, along and across the LRT route)
- Ridership and traffic projections
- Projected high level costs and land implications
As part of this phase of engagement, The City wants to understand community needs and values as they relate to NC LRT. Citizens will also have an opportunity to learn about the study and its scope. We would like to invite you to attend one of the open houses and participate in one of the workshops for the North Central LRT project.
The open houses are open to the public.
Each workshop is limited to 100 participants. If you would like to register for one of the workshops, please respond to
nc...@calgary.ca to confirm your attendance. If you are unable to make either of these events or if registration fills up, you can go the
NC LRT study web page and participate online anytime between
June 10, 2013, and the fall, at your leisure. The feedback received will help to develop the study’s vision, objectives and criteria.
