How to make the software only pinch a part of a view

As the question asked, I have a map that encompasses the whole page. I cant use any of the map functions since we are using maps v2. The map has other elements overlapping at the sides so when I pinch the pinch is simulated on the inactive parts of the page which means I cannot zoom out. Can anyone give me a suggestion to pinch only a part of a view? If not, how do I set zoom level on google maps v2?
