The ports on the black water tank also leaked on our last cruise, yuck. These ports are not cracked, but when the tank was full, sewage seeped from the ports, both from the opening port itself and also from the bedding. Despite having pumped out I still get a whiff now and then and I know the ports are not fume-tight.
Should I replace with like kind ports? These are the ports one sees on dinghies etc to access flotation tanks e.g. They seem strong enough for the job.
Any suggestions for a bedding compound? On the water tank I need something both effective and non-toxic. On the black water tank I just need effective!
In general if anyone else has been through this chore I'd love to hear lessons learned.
The multiple fastenings around the black water tank perimeter are quite rusted and this year or soon I will need to attend to these as well. Do those fasteners secure the actual top of the tank? Any input as to instruction would be great.
