I changed all my chain plates because of the 2 piece chain plates cracking. I noticed on my friends 1999 Cabo Rico pilothouse, hull number 7 that the chain plates are also made of 2 pieces welded together instead of a 1 piece 3/8th SS. They also showed evidence of electrolysis and cracking especially on the bow stay. :)

Yep, good practice to change those. We did so in summer of 2013.
