Hello all,
The new owner of our boat is Ken Smith. I have just spent a day with him at
the boat on Erie.
Unfortunately, just after the purchase, the boat was struck by lightening
while on the hard. Believe it or not, it set the wooden cradle on fire.
This burned a couple areas on the keel where the boat set on the
cradle. Ken ground those out and they will need repaired.
I addition, it fried the VHF, most, if not all the instruments, radar
/antenna. Blew the VHF antenna off the mount at the top of the mast. That
was what we found in a few hours. Hopefully not much else.
He plans now on shipping it back to his home boat yard near Oswego,
NY and do the repairs.
I told him about the group and related what a wealth of knowledge there is
here. He is a very handy guy and owns his own industrial machine shop.
If he signs up for the group, give him our normal warm welcome and all the
help you can.
Best
