Replacing the mixing elbow on my W46

[Calypso Poet - CR38 #116]

I've ordered a replacement exhaust mixing elbow (Marine Parts Source - $185) for my W46. Not sure if the PO ever replaced it and I'd rather not found out when I need the motor.
Considering the price, I think these things must be clad in gold.
However, even more ridiculous is the price for the little 1/2" NPT x7/8" hose nipple - just shy of the same price as the elbow ($144).
So, even though I ordered one, do you typically also replace the water hose nipple when you replace the elbow?
