Good Day All!  I figured I would tap into the expertise of this group for how you have mounted your whisker pole on your vessel.

I would prefer to mount the pole on the mast but I am confused as how one does this in light of the topping lift for our staysail boom.  Now I know we have a smaller boat than the majority of the folks here but many of you probably have an Isomat mast like ours (NG-51 is used on the CR34).  You will have more deck space but I really want to avoid the toe breaking, line catching clutter of securing it to the deck.  The life lines could be a solution but the pole is a 12 x 20 and looks to be a challenge if we are needing to heft it around on a pitching deck.

Maybe someone has solved this problem so I can share in your experience.  Hope most of you are getting your boats in the water and can start to enjoy sailing in 2015.

best,

Leslie

Can you move the club-boom topping lift block further up the mast?  That was my plan in any event, but I must admit I have not looked at it closely, so I can't say there's no problem with that approach.  It seems to me that's where a whisker pole belongs.

I guess I forgot to mention, you'd also need to run the halyard for the club-boom T-lift internal to the mast.

Thanks for the feedback and thoughts, Tom.  I just worry any running rigging for the Staysail will be snagging on the pole.  I have heard some have placed the pole at angles off the mast.  I am not sure how to do this.  I may just have to call Atlantic Rigging or some other expert who has done this many times.  Our Isomat mast does offer a channel that may not need another track screwed on but I just don't know.

If the "solution" (probably one of many) comes my way, I will be sure to share my solution.

Hope to be in the water this week.  It will be good to be floating.

Cheers,

Leslie

Great to hear from you Jaime. Warm regards to you and Nancy. I was thinking of the wonderful time I enjoyed sailing with you both on Opus,  while this past winter as I worked in Carthage, NY. Just over the waterway. Not warm though.  Snow was piled high.   May will be here soon.
