Has anyone removed and replaced the Galley sink on a CR 38? Pulled it due to leaking around the edges and the 8 mounting studs broke off.

Needs to fit in the inset of the galley counter. 25"X17".  Haven't found the exact drop in.  Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried RV supplies rather than marine supply houses?

Stephen,
I replaced my sink this spring. Unfortunately, I don't have much insight to offer. I didn't find a drop-in replacement in several years of looking. I did not try specifically RV but did try household stores.

I had to cut the hole bigger, then glass in the gaps, gelcoat the entire counter, and fit in the new sink.
I got a scandvik sink that seemed a decent fit, but still needed  surgery

I think I've attached some photos.

LMk if you have any questions -

OK, so you closed it up to fit the 13 or so inch sinks....Great Job........Steve, I have checked RV, but same round about sizes.

I'm now considering going a little bit bigger allowing it to mount above the drop in, possibly cutting out the flange to fit.

I did also look into a solid surface sink like the Swanstone, which is 18" compared to my 17". https://www.build.com/swanstone-ksdb-2518/s579792
If the material can be worked, I could mill it down to fit in, including beveling the bottom radius to fit cleaner. It is 7/16" thick.

Mickey, I have acquired a lot of inspiration from looking at your pics of the Ice Box rebuild and pulling the Settee cabinets.

I'll post more pics later.

I had the same problem - also had a leak around the edge and also broke off a bunch of rusted studs. I could not find a matching sink. Ended up going and buying new threaded bolts and then used JB weld to attach the bolt heads to the sink where the old studs were.  If I were to do it again, I would have them welded.

Took the time to build a new bed for the hot water heater using G10, replaced the sink drain tubing, and put in a modern faucet.

I'm considering that also Alex, I did put a couple dings in the edge when I put a small wonder bar underneath the counter to pry up the sink from the (What I thought was still bedding) but didn't find to 2 bolts on the side until to late. Did you cut off the bolt heads and just JB the stud? I have a metal guy that built my Aluminum fuel tank for another boat and considered welding new studs, if I can pop the dings out.

Thanks Guys.......

I use an "instant" (or "on-demand") propane hot water heater. Best thing I've done!

It's mounted on the forward bulkhead in the port cockpit lazarette. The original water heater was originally mounted in the same location, I then moved it under the sink--which took up a lot of space. When I switched to propane on-demand, Im moved it back in the lazarette. The propane ones are much smaller and I get all the hot water I want. There's a caveat--you need a water pump with sufficient cut-in pressure, a measure few manufacturers publish.

I went out and got high quality course thread stainless nuts from fastenal. Used my dremel to grind down the old studs that broke off (leaving the good ones in place) and then put some grip on the new bolt heads using a dremel cutting tool. JB welded them in place using a tight (but not too tight) clamp set overnight. Seems to have worked out just fine!

We moved # 99's water heater from under sink to engine compartment. Best move ever, freed up lots of good storage under sink. Bought a stainless lined round heater, the old square one needed to go.

I have my round Raritan heated out now, replacing the rotted floor under the cabinet. Anyone have pictures of the Heater move to the Cockpit locker?

Stephen I do not have pictures of the water heater at home, but we will be on the boat next week. I will take some and post them here if I can . Posting pictures here difficult!
