Has anyone had to pull your steering cable through the conduit and then re-thread it? If so, how did you do it? I tried taping twine around the bitter end to pull through as a tag line, but the restrictions at the opening to the conduit are too tight.

Might try a wire snake. Get a cheap one a Harbor Freight. Mine is 1/4" flat metal. $15 maybe.

Just got off of the phone with Edson tech. support. They are really great, BTW. Sadly, the guy said it's virtually impossible to re-thread cable that has previously been clamped. Given that the steering system is likely original, he strongly recommended replacement of the chain, cable, conduit and fittings. Edson gives it a useful life of 15 years. Looks like I'm spending some money!!

Dave - you have a 38? I replaced mine chain/wire without much issue... used one of those fiberglass rods with a hole in the end and poked it up through the hole. The biggest pain was getting the retaining clip reattached.I think I ended tying it to a string or something and pulling it through from the outside.
