Hi,

I am getting this error sometimes when querying my database with BDE 5.11,
but not with BDE 5.10. Is this a bug that any knows of?

Jens,

I don't know what DB you are using, but I had this error on InterBase, and
solved it by setting the right LANGDRIVER in the BDE.

Hi,

Maybe it has something to do with a problem I ran across with BDE 5.11 and
Oracle 8.0.5.
I found out that the BDE does not always recognize field values as being
NULL, which will result in all kinds of problems when you try to do
something
with it.
For example, if you try to format a date/time field that has a NULL value as
string, you may get these 'translate errors'.

I posted this problem two times before in this newsgroup but no replies so
far.
I posted it again today.
Subject is 'BDE 5.11 + Oracle 8.0.5 = BUG with NULL values'.

Watch out for processing null values.. I have had problems in VDB5 with
null values in logical fields .

I solved this setting rowset size = 0 in the
bde 5.1.1 Oracle8 driver configuration.
A collegue here is using 5.1.0 and doesn't seem
to have this problem.

I just loaded 5.11 and am getting it in sql explorer just clicking on the
tables tree.

Borland needs to recall 5.11 immediately (not working with Oracle 8.1.6 is a
definite no-no)

We are experiencing problems with BDE 5.11 and Oracle 8.1.6 also. Our
workaround is to just leave the 7.3.4 Oracle client on the users machine
combined with the BDE 5.11 connecting to the Oracle 8.1.6 database. Works
fine. Even if the user installs the Oracle 8.1.6 client, the 7.3.4 client
files are still there and that is what we use for our app...

DELPHI is not certified with ORACLE 8.1.6. You should be using ORACLE 8.1.5
server/client.

Just set the BDE ROWSET SIZE parameter to 1
