There is still a very basic bug present in 2.1.1 that I hope the
developer can take some time away from development of commercial addons
in order to fix.
This has been posted to bugzilla as a followup to another thread, where
as far as I can tell any posted bug, even those representing serious
workflow challenges like this one, remain "unconfirmed" indefinitely.
Hence this duplicate posting:

...(Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit version
2.1.1)...
I've got the box "Restore Last Session's Tabs" UNchecked. However, for
instance if I have three tabs open and all of them are saved properly,
and hit the window manager's close (X) button to exit BlueGriffon, next
time I open any other file I'll get those three tabs again... four if
the file I've clicked is distinct from the first three.
To make matters much worse, when a previous tab comes back, it always
becomes the active tab, *instead of* the file that I have just opened.
It only saves the list of closed tabs when exiting File > Quit from
the menu, and if any tab is open at that point it will always come
back. This makes BlueGriffon less attractive for opening & viewing
lots of files (which most web designers & HTML note-takers are),
because you must deliberately close every single tab that you open.
Otherwise, you get the same tab jumping back at you next time!
The matter is made worst of all by the Ctrl-Q hotkey not working in
Linux. You have to use the explict menu sequence Alt-F followed by Q.
So, if you don't want lingering tabs in Linux that have to be closed
every time, you can exit BlueGriffon in version 2.1.1 like this, *every
time*:
1) hit Ctrl-W until there are no tabs left on the screen
2) hit Alt-F,Q to close the window
Quite a left-hand workout: a challenging workaround for what is now the greatest nuisance bug in my daily workflow.
