Would it make sense to add that brief description/link to the
documentation to the warning message that is printed when executing
blogofile build? (I'd do a pull request but I'm on holiday without a
laptop :)

I've added a note about YAML syntax to the end of the posts section of the docs:
http://blogofile.readthedocs.org/en/latest/posts.html#yaml-header
The docs are now in the project repository on github, so docs pull
requests can be handled just like code ones.
