Hi everyone,

The first production release (1.7.22) of BitCurator built using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS is now available. This release improves compatibility with modern hardware while retaining the look, feel, software stack, and support for legacy devices found in previous releases. You can find the download links at http://wiki.bitcurator.net/ or download the files directly at:

Updates (including those from from previous 1.6.X builds) that have been incorporated into this release:

- Fixes an issue with read-only drive mounts where some floppy and SCSI drives were not remounted properly
- Added "dumpfloppy" (https://offog.org/code/dumpfloppy/) to "Imaging Tools"
- Bagger updated to 2.7.1
- Latest version of bagit-python (using GitHub sources) included
- The Sleuth Kit (TSK) libraries updated, includes various bugfixes
- Ubuntu "hardinfo" tool now in "Additional Tools" (appears as "System Profiler and Benchmark") to assist in troubleshooting
- FITS updated to 0.10.2
- FIDO updated to 1.3.4
- VirtualBox Guest Additions updated to support VirtualBox release 5.1.0

The BitCurator Quickstart guide now briefly covers installing BitCurator as a dedicated OS in production environments. Note that (due to a known limitation with the Live ISO preparation tools) the Live ISO must be booted to the Desktop prior to installing; there is no install option in the boot menu.

Regards,

Kam
