Hello list
I’ve been imaging floppies from my personal stash, then processing them and documenting the process.
1. I managed to image all the disks (31), including the HFS formats with BitCurator and FTK Imager Lite.
2. On a purely experimental front, I also tried to mount the disks as trialled in SAA Digital Forensics: Advanced class (pp.23-25 of the Advanced workbook – Seeing attached devices). 11 disks did not mount - 3 are HFS and one has an unrecognised file system (most likely from corruption) - the contents were generated in Windows; the 7 others are all Windows format.
3. The floppy disk drive appears in the device manager list on two different laptops, one running Windows 7, the other 8.1
4. The drive does not appear in disk management in Windows 7 or 8.1, even with the disks I could mount. I checked the setting to show hidden drives, rebooted the computers and it still doesn't appear.
Any suggestions as to why this has occurred?
Cheers
Elizabeth
