Cam,

Just connected an IDE drive to BitCurator. Drive appears on desktop, right click on driver, went to scripts, select safe mount but not confirmation of safe mount as described in the wiki.

Hi Rod,

The Safe Mount script uses Yad for the GUI interface. Yad was removed due to an incompatibility in a previous version, so that script doesn't work right now. It's on the list to fix in a future version.

Either way, there's no reason to use Safe Mount if you have your disk hooked up to a physical write blocker. You can simply click on the disk icon, and Ubuntu will mount it.

I should also add that the *default mode* of mounting disks in BitCurator is read-only in software (you can, of course, turn this off using the green appindicator in the top right hand side of the screen). So even if you *didn't* have the disk hooked up to a write-blocker, it would *still* be mounted read-only with loop option enabled to prevent journal recovery (for disks where that matters).

Hope that helps..

Cam,

When can you add the default mode? I do not have a physical write blocker but can get one. I downloaded a write blocker application but thought I would just use the one in BitCurator. As it is mounted currently, i have no write blocker and should remove it until you can set the default, correct?

Thanks,
Rod

I don't need to add it. BitCurator is currently shipped to mount everything read-only by default. This behavior is controlled via the appindicator in the top right. You can turn it on and off there (the green disk icon). It's *already on* when you first start up the machine.

My earlier comments on the "Safe Mount" script are entirely unrelated to this. I was simply saying "you don't need to use Safe Mount". Just clicking on the icon for your attached drive will cause it to be mounted read-only.
